My First Business Was a Regular Business
The internet did not exist when I started it. Beginning with almost nothing, we built it into the third most admired information-technology firm in South Africa, just behind IBM.
Then the political and economic situation changed—and everything fell apart.
In the years since, I have seen the same vulnerability in almost every regular business. It needs premises, equipment, employees, stock, suppliers and a steady flow of local customers. Every additional cost creates another place where circumstances can hurt it.
Since 1992, I have focused on a different possibility: helping an individual build a business with almost zero starting costs and the ability to reach customers anywhere in the world.
Business For One brings that work together: the lessons, systems, stories, successes, mistakes and practical methods gathered over more than three decades.
